MEDICATIONS
-
You may continue to take your medications the night before the procedure. On the day of your appointment, you may be told not to take specific medications or to take certain medications in the early morning with just a sip of water. Please wait for specific instructions from our nurses about your morning medications. Please call one of the nurses if you have questions about what medications you should or should not take.
-
Aspirin, Coumadin, Ecotrin, Persantine, Plavix, Ticlid, or other blood thinning medications should not be taken for one week before the procedure, or as directed by your doctor. For your safety, please notify your urologist and United Shockwave if you are currently taking one of these medications. Aspirin products will contain the ingredient Acetylsalicylic acid (i.e. includes Excedrin, Bayer).
-

-
Please take a shower or a bath the morning of the procedure. Wear loose, comfortable clothing, flat shoes and please remove all jewelry. Please leave all valuables at home.
On the day of your procedure, please bring the following with you:

-
Claim forms or HMO referral form
-
Drivers License/Photo ID for identification purposes
-
Payment as instructed by our insurance verifier.
-
X-rays, if applicable.
The procedure will take approximately one to two hours. After the procedure, you will spend time in the recovery room. Occasionally, your doctor may request that you stay overnight in the hospital; if so, you may be taken by car or ambulance, depending on your condition. |
